On today’s Crosstalk Show, listen live online at 2pm Central, host Vic Eliason will be interviewing Brannon Howse of Worldview Weekends on the Universal National Service push by Barack Obama’s incoming administration. Obama’s youth army is about to become a reality, and you need to know about it.
Friday’s Crosstalk Show will feature Ken Silva with an important program on the New Spirituality that is literally exploding in our culture. Most disturbingly, emerging church leaders and teachers are fully on board and helping to bring in the “Jesus” that is “bigger than our tribes”, as Rob Bell put it. Yes, Rob, the false cosmic christ of the New Age will unite all “tribes”, and those who resist will be viewed as enemies of the new social/spiritual order. Barbara Marx Hubbard describes this in her demonically channeled book, The Revelation. Those who refuse to put their Bibles down and who reject the false cosmic christ will be viewed as a “cancer” on the face of humanity that must be cut out. Discernment groups have been warning about this for years, but how many have been listening? For more information on this, see Reinventing Jesus Christ, an online book that is about to be re-released in paperback in January.

In an essay aptly titled A Human Approach to World Peace Dalai Lama, supposedly the current manifestation “of the Bodhisattva (Buddha) of Compassion, who chose to reincarnate to serve the people” expresses a dream which, alas, can never be. Apprising Ministries shows you what it is.

Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family has promoted eHarmony but will he continue to do that now that the owner has knuckled under to a lawsuit in New Jersey and will offer “same-sex” matches? The homosexual jackboot crowd continues its relentless march across American culture and men like the founder of eHarmony are only too willing to knuckle under and conform to their terrorist demands.

Here’s a column by J. Lee Grady of Charisma Magazine that says things aren’t looking too good on the charismatic megachurch front for several once famous ministries. In a recent post, I also raised the spectre of miles of deserted megachurch parking lots where nothing can be heard but the crickets chirping and nothing can be seen but the weeds coming up through the cracks in the black top. This article says that time is here for some churches.

A “twinning event” is bringing mosques and synagogues together for an interfaith event. Read more here.
B’nai Or is one of several NJ synagogues participating in the Nov. 21-23 project spearheaded by the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding.
According to the foundation, 50 mosques and 50 synagogues around the country will hold joint activities to “confront Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in their communities.”
The weekend is the direct result of a summit meeting of 12 rabbis and 12 imams held in November 2007. The event is timed to coincide with a visit by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations.

The always fascinating Andrew Gause is with us on Crosstalk today to discuss Bailout Madness. Listen live here, 2pm Central. Cities want federal money because they can’t make budgets. States want a bailout because they can’t make their budgets. (But our state can afford to fund Planned Parenthood…) Insurance companies now want bailouts. The big three automakers are on their knees in Washington begging for money. Meanwhile, the printing presses at the Treasury are running night and day to provide enough cash. And oh, yes, there’s the gazillion dollar deficit already in place from the Katrina bailout, the endless war in Iraq, and so forth and so on. This is what happens when economics classes are not required in schools, or rather, when economics classes are taught by socialists. Americans moronically think you can just have the feds keep printing money and take care of everybody’s bad mortgages, everybody’s credit card debt from pizzas they ate 5 years ago, etc. OK, brilliant Americans, where do you think this money is coming from? The money is going to come from…YOU, taxpayers.

I’m shocked, just shocked. Tony Campolo on the opposite side of biblical morality? Say it isn’t so. The Baptist Press reports. Tony and I had a dust up at a National Religious Broadcasters convention years ago that I’ve never forgotten. A former homosexual from a New York ministry and I went over to the Zondervan booth where Mr. Campolo was holding forth on his latest book. Having thoroughly exposed Mr. Campolo’s false teachings in a paper I had written entitled, “Renegade Prophet: A Look at the Teachings of Dr. Tony Campolo”, I was interested in what Campolo was promoting at NRB. The Zondervan booth was pretty empty so my friend and I approached him to ask why he was not teaching that Jesus Christ could deliver from homosexuality. Tony came unhinged when he found out who we were. He began hollering and screaming at us so loudly that the Zondervan PR rep had to pull him by the arm and tell him forcefully that they were “going to lunch.” A crowd had gathered as Tony began screaming at us, “agenda, agenda, WHAT AGENDA? Gays don’t have any more of an agenda than Christians do!” Well, Tony, all these years later, the gay agenda is pretty obvious. Just ask the church members in Michigan whose church was invaded and desecrated by rioting gays. Just ask the elderly woman in San Fransisco who had her cross trampled by hate-spewing homosexuals. And you, Dr. Campolo, are still supporting that same agenda, just like you were then.

Apprising Ministries goes through a story in The Leaf Chronicle of Clarksville, TN concerning the way more and more who profess Christianity are currently becoming involved with meditation ala the spurious spiritual formation of Quaker mystic Richard Foster.

If you believe that the gay cabal in this country is about tolerance and acceptance, here’s some video from San Francisco that shows a gay mob urinating on, throwing beer on and cursing Christians. What was that signature song from the Creme City Chorus again? “I love the world, the way it is, there’s nothing that I would change…”

This builds on Larry DeBruyn: The Coming Kingdom and concerns an emergence theory from religious pundit Phyllis Tickle whose new book is telling Emergent Church pastors like Doug Pagitt and his friend Rob Bell exactly what they want to hear: Emergent Christianity is the new reformation.
In fact, as you’ll see in this post from Apprising Ministries Tickle has said: “Brian McLaren is to this new reformation what Martin Luther was to the Protestant Reformation.”

There is a new article by Pastor Larry Debruyn at Herescope that is important reading.
As he embraces “the nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels” (the Jesus of “love and grace”), one Christian leader now debunks what he labels the “jihadist Jesus” of the “Second Coming” (the Jesus of “violence and domination”). According to Brian McLaren, “the Second Coming Jesus”—once held by an evangelical consensus to be one of the five fundamentals of the Christian faith—needs rethinking.[1]

I received this particularly poignant paragraph from a male Slice reader in an email today. I ask you, when did this happen? How did it come to this? How did orthodox Christian worship move to teen girls dancing to pop tunes on stage? Looking back at evangelical history in this country, I know Tozer warned about entertainment coming in, but there is no way that even he could have envisioned just how bad things would get. These things didn’t start overnight. We didn’t move from singing doctrinal truth and Scripture to teen girls shaking their body parts to pop tunes in front of a cheering audience. It was incremental and it started in the pulpits. Sick theology produces sick everything else in churches. Poison roots? Poison fruits.
…I waited the 20 minutes because the first 35 minutes of the service was spent with the youth minister “leading worship” which consisted of teens (mostly girls) dancing to secular pop tunes and altered classics by modern leaders (re: Tomlin, Redman, et al). The congregation cheered as the teens danced to the music. I’m sorry but I am not in church to watch teen girls dance to pop tunes. If I wanted that I could go to the dance studio, not a house of worship.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. (Hebrews 12:15)
In the course of scores of conferences and hundreds of conversations I have many times heard people say, “I resent that.” But I repeat: I have never heard the words used by a victorious man. Resentment simply cannot dwell in a loving heart. Before resentfulness can enter, love must take its flight and bitterness take over. The bitter soul will compile a list of slights at which it takes offense and will watch over itself like a mother bear over her cubs. And the figure is apt, for the resentful heart is always surly and suspicious like a she-bear.
Few sights are more depressing than that of a professed Christian defending his supposed rights and bitterly resisting any attempt to violate them. Such a Christian has never accepted the way of the cross. The sweet graces of meekness and humility are unknown to him. He grows every day harder and more acrimonious as he defends his reputation, his rights, his ministry, against his imagined foes.
The only cure for this sort of thing is to die to self and rise with Christ into newness of life. OGM105-106.
“Keep me, I pray, in the way of the cross, the way of meekness and humility. Amen.”
(A.W. Tozer, Tozer on Christian Leadership, November 17)
